The summer is usually a light time for opera singers as most opera companies take June through August off. I am using the time to prepare for fall recitals and auditions. In the meantime my husband Michael and I are doing our first production together with Victorian Lyric Opera Company. The operetta is a rarely performed Gilbert and Sullivan called Utopia, Limited,  I will be playing the role of Nekaya, and Michael Sir Bailey Barr. The performance dates are August 29 and 31.
Other things going on include a recital at my Alma Mater, Carson Newman University on September 19 and additional recitals in Spartanburg, SC and Asheville, NC, time and exact location currently undecided. Finally if anyone missed Die Fledermaus you will have an opportunity to catch it in early December here in the DC area. I cannot say enough about what a fun and wonderful opera Die Fledermaus is, and our modernized version makes it especially accessible and enjoyable to the general public.

I will be using this blog to talk about upcoming performances,  performances in progress, student achievements and also  a subject I am very passionate about: bringing the beauty and drama of opera into the 21st century and the younger generations.
